Donald Alan Riffel
As City Manager of Woodward for the past 13 years, he was recognized in 2004 by the International City-County Management Association (ICMA) as a Credentialed City Manager; and then in 2008, he graduated from the ICMA Gettysburg Leadership Institute. He began his municipal career as a firefighter in Anadarko, where he later served as City Manager for seven years.
He has served over the past 13 years on various committees for the Oklahoma Municipal League, including the legislative, executive search, nominating, and annual conference planning committees. His 2000 task force leadership at the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma (MESO) produced objective findings that continue to counter potential perils of adverse legislation for communities that own and operate their electric distribution systems.
In 1999 he was selected by the Anadarko Chamber of Commerce to receive the Sam Walton Business Leader of the Year Award. In 2005 he received the Public Official of the Year Award from the Oklahoma Emergency Management Association and in 2009 he was presented the Gerald Wilkins Award by the City Management Association of Oklahoma.
