William A. Moyer
What is there to say about Bill Moyer that most of you don't already know? But more importantly, what is there about nearly every city or town in Oklahoma that Bill doesn't know? If he hasn't been to every city or town hall in this State, then I suspect your city or town doesn't have a permanent office! But, if you have a restaurant in your city or town, he's probably eaten there.
Bill Moyer began his municipal government career 41 years ago on February 1, 1960, as Assistant City Manager in Bartlesville. Eight years later he became City Manager, a position he held until August 1, 1972, when hired by OML Executive Director Don Rider in the new position of Associate Director. The League at that time rented offices at 4040 Lincoln Boulevard before building the current office building adjacent to the Capitol.
In case any of you don't already know it, this Pawhuska native graduated from that other great state University just up the road North from UCO.
Bill has been an ardent and effective force to enhance the role of cities and towns in providing efficient and effective services. His engaging style allows him to converse and influence politicians and career executives at all levels of government. Whether you are an elected official, appointed staff, judge, public safety officer, emergency responder, public works crewperson, office worker, utility worker, legal counsel, or a resident of a city or town, Bill Moyer has had an impact on your life. And, your life is much better because of his efforts. Steadfast, focused, ethical, honorable, and likable are all apt descriptions for Bill.
