Jeff Shockley
Jeff served 26 years on the City Council of Poteau Oklahoma, the first six as a council member and the next twenty as mayor.
He is the recipient of the 2006 Oklahoma Mayor of the Year for Large Cities presented by the Oklahoma Conference of Mayors.
Jeff has an extensive list of involvement in various organizations, local, county and statewide, that relate to his position such as the Mayor’s Council of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Municipal League, the OML Legislative Committee, Oklahoma SouthEast, and Fort Smith Regional Alliance, both regional economic development organizations and KEDDO, a council of government. These organizations aid both local government and communities in working together to address the needs of each community.
He is involved civically in Partnership with Carl Albert State College, Phil Gardenhire PRCA Rodeo, Poteau Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Library Association, and Grace Cottage.
Jeff has been honored as Poteau Man of the Year twice by the Chamber of Commerce as well as being awarded the Business Excellence Stewardship award from the Chamber of Commerce and the Wall of Honor Award from Carl Albert State College. And he received an Outstanding Service Award from Grace Cottage for his volunteer service.
Over his years of public service, he has received several proclamations from state & federal officials recognizing his accomplishments and service.
Jeff has been recognized as being an accomplished negotiator and a visionary which would both benefit his community over the years as he worked diligently to improve the quality of life in Poteau for citizens of all ages.
