Gary Pruett

Gary recently retired as General Manager of the Municipal Utility Board in Pryor Oklahoma after serving in various capacities over a span of 46 years of service.  His career began as a mechanic in the Gas & Water department and after 2 years he moved into an apprentice lineman position in the electric department.  After several more promotions he was named General Manager in 1996, a position he held until his retirement.

The Gary Pruett – Charles Lamb Lifetime Achievement Award was established by the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma of which he was the first recipient. 

He received various other recognitions over the years from Grand River Dam Authority, Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Gas Association, and the Oklahoma Municipal League.

In addition to being a founding board member of the Oklahoma Gas Association, Gary held various positions including president/chairman on the governing boards of the Oklahoma Gas Association, the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma, and the GRDA Wholesale Customer Group.

Gary worked tirelessly for his community with a true dedication to public service and has fought to protect the interests of small cities all across the state by continually being a leader for public service.   

Gary has a keen understanding of the gas and electric industry and has mentored many others, both from his own generation and those generations wanting to learn, by freely sharing his knowledge.

His 46 years of service has earned him the titles of an advisor, a mentor, a spokesperson, and a futurist, just to mention a few.
